Math: We are combining money now.  Please practice recognizing coins and their value.  Then put some coins together (under $1) and ask your child to figure out how much money the coins are worth.  Your child should put the coins in order from greatest amount to least amount and then add.  We are also working on adding 3 digits together.  Total is not higher than 10.

Reading: Parents please keep reviewing the phonics charts in The Handbook for Reading.  You can find these charts in the very back of the book.  To this date, we have covered through chart 12.  Continue signing your child’s reading homework after listening to your child read the assigned pages.

Bible: Matthew 18:1-6

1,  At the time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who then is greatest in the kingdom of heaven?”
2.  Then Jesus called a little child to Him, set him in the midst of them,
3.  and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
4.  “Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5.  “Whoever receives one little child like this in My name receives Me.
6.  “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.”

Science:  We are ending our unit in science and the science book will be sent home for you to keep.  There are a lot of neat activities suggested in the book that you and your child can try at home.  We will begin a Social Studies unit called My America and My World.  We will also start reading in our Primary Bible Reader.   These books are for the class to read together and discuss as a class.  Please encourage your child to discuss these lessons with you.  These books will be sent home when we have completed them.

No school on Monday, Feb. 20th  - President’s Day

Book It sheets are due at the first of the new month.
